5 color combinations we love right now

There are colors that go together as a matter of course. And then there are combinations where you might first think: Hmm, does that work? These are usually the exact ones that make an outfit interesting.

At HEY MAUSI, we like color to be a bit unexpected anyway. That's why here are five color combinations that we’re particularly fond of right now, with suitable examples from the shop.

1. Red + Pink

We’re starting right off with a combination that would likely have been forbidden in the past: red and pink. Bright red with bubblegum pink, burgundy with light pink, or just a small pink detail added to red. There are quite a few possibilities without the outfit automatically having to become completely colorful.

The Jhené Mars Red cardigan by The New Chapter actually shows quite well why the combination works. Red and pink are right there in the same piece.

2. Purple + Orange

Purple and orange is a bit retro, a bit crazy, and exactly why it’s so good. Both colors are quite far apart, which makes them reinforce each other. We find the combination particularly beautiful when one color is given a bit more space and the other only appears as an accent.

The perfect example for this is actually already hanging at HEY MAUSI: the Wolf Sweatpants Checker by The New Chapter with their orange purple checkered pattern. There is also the matching Billie Sweater Checker. Together it’s a lot of color, but individually both pieces work just as well with calmer things.

3. Green + Blue

Green and blue is probably the most uncomplicated combination on this list. Cobalt blue with grass green looks lovely and bold, dark blue with moss green significantly calmer, and denim with green almost always works anyway.

The Sweatshirt Block Stripes in green and blue by Sproet & Sprout brings both colors together immediately. If you prefer it calmer, the dark green teddy vest by Sproet & Sprout works just as well over blue denim. Same color combination, completely different look.

4. Leopard + Red or Pink

Okay, leopard is technically not a color. But that's exactly why it still gets a spot on this list. For us, leopard now works almost like denim: it simply goes with everything.

A pretty good example is the Leopard Baby Leggings by Mini Rodini. You can wear basically whatever you have on hand with it: a simple bodysuit, a colorful sweater, knitwear, stripes, or even more print. The leggings make even a very simple outfit immediately a bit more special, without you having to think too much about it.

Perhaps that is our favorite argument for leopard anyway: it doesn't need a specific color combination. It just makes almost every outfit better.

5. Pink + Blue

Pink and blue can look quite sweet, but they don’t have to at all. With bolder tones, the combination immediately becomes sportier and more modern. And because blue can also be denim, it is also quite easy to integrate into an existing wardrobe.

The Winter Leggings in blue and pink by Sproet & Sprout bring both colors together directly. From there, you can easily pick one of them out: a pink sweater works just as well as a blue denim jacket. If you want it even more colorful, Viola styles by Mini Rodini are also lovely, as they bring pink, purple, blue, and other colors together in one print.

Maybe totally different tomorrow

That is exactly the beauty of color: the same leopard pants look completely different with pink than with red, a green item becomes instantly calmer with denim, and sometimes just a pair of colorful socks is enough to make an outfit more interesting.

You don't have to make a complicated science out of it. Sometimes you see two colors side by side and simply think: yes. We can live with that quite well.

wear yourself happy.
