Merino wool for babies: not just for winter
Share
Merino wool might make you think of cold winter days. Fair enough. But it is much more versatile than that and especially lovely for babies throughout the year. That is why you will find the wool and merino pieces from We Are Wovens at HEY MAUSI. From little booties and mittens to wool liners for prams and cradles. Practical, soft and just as importantly, lovely to look at.
Why merino is so practical for babies
Babies cannot regulate their body temperature as well as adults can. Merino wool has some very practical qualities: it insulates when it is cool, breathes well and can absorb moisture. We find that especially useful on the go. It is cold outside, suddenly warm in the car and five minutes later you are sitting in a café. A wool layer is easy to add or remove as the temperature changes. Good to know: not every We Are Wovens piece in our shop is made entirely from merino wool. Materials vary by item, so you will always find the exact composition on the product page.
Keeping little feet nice and warm
Little baby feet get cold quickly, and socks have a special habit of disappearing constantly anyway. The Merino Baby Booties in Lilac are one of our favorite picks for the stroller and baby carrier. We also offer them in Leopard and Cotton Candy. For really cold days, you can combine them with the wool mittens and the lilac wool hat. Small layers that are easy to put on and take off when the temperature changes.

Wool liners for strollers and cradles
The wool liners from We Are Wovens are another example of something that can be practical and beautiful at the same time. At HEY MAUSI, you will find them in Hearts, Yin Yang, and Flower Power. Wool is breathable and temperature regulating, so a wool liner can also be useful between seasons. Always dress your baby for the actual temperature and make sure they do not get too warm.

Merino wool in summer
Yes, merino can be useful then too. Your baby does not need a wool hat at 30 degrees, of course, but merino does more than simply keep them warm. Wool is breathable and can absorb moisture. That can make it surprisingly useful on cooler summer days, in the evening or when the weather changes within a few hours.
How to care for merino wool
Luckily, it does not take much work. Many wool products do not need to go straight into the washing machine after every wear. Often, airing them out well is enough. This is gentler on the material, and we are always happy to have less baby laundry anyway. If washing is needed, always check the care label for that product. Wool usually needs a gentle wash.
A little extra
And then there is the Wool Heart pacifier holder. Not a must have for temperature regulation, but a pretty sweet detail. We especially like it as a small new baby gift or as a colorful extra for everyday baby life.
We Are Wovens at HEY MAUSI
What we love about We Are Wovens is this mix: natural materials, practical products, and designs that are a little more fun. Practical does not always have to mean beige.
