How to add more color to your child’s wardrobe
Share
Adding more color does not mean saying goodbye to every gray sweater or pair of blue jeans. Often, one bold piece is enough to make an outfit feel completely different. At HEY MAUSI, we love color and pieces that work with what is already in the wardrobe. It does not have to be a full rainbow. A few simple ideas can make color easy to wear.
1. Start small
The easiest way to add more color is through accessories. Bright socks, a hat or another small detail can completely change a simple outfit. That is a good place to start if you like color but bright pink pants feel like a lot. The Club Chaos socks in pink by Sproet & Sprout are a good example of this. With jeans and a sweater, they add just enough color without needing anything else to match.
2. Let one piece do the work
Some clothing items simply don't need much support. Patterned pants, a bright cardigan, or an standout sweater can easily do all the work in an outfit. Add a calmer top, denim or knitwear and you are done. The Viola velour pants by Mini Rodini are just such a piece. The floral print already brings various colors, so the rest can remain quite simple. The same goes for the Riley Leopard denim pants by The New Chapter. Leopard print stands out, but is surprisingly easy to combine. The best part is that you do not need three new items to make one special piece work.

3. Pick a color from the print
It sounds like a styling rule, but it is really just a simple trick. If a print contains several colors, you choose one of them and let it appear again somewhere else in the outfit. With the winter leggings in blue and pink by Sproet & Sprout, for example, you can take either pink or blue as a starting point. Add a top, socks, or a hat in a similar color, and the outfit immediately feels connected. By the way, it doesn't have to be the exact same shade. Different nuances of a color can look even more interesting together.

4. Denim is your best friend
If you like color but do not want to spend twenty minutes thinking about an outfit in the morning, denim is your friend. A colorful cardigan, a sweater with a print, or a bright shirt with jeans almost always works. The Cat Chenille sweater in pink by Mini Rodini is a lovely example of this. With simple jeans, the sweater remains the focus of the outfit. It works the same way the other way around, of course: denim with colorful socks, a colored vest, or a striking top. Denim calms down brighter colors without turning everything beige.
5. Just try two colors together
Pink and red, green and blue, or purple and orange: color does not always need white, gray or beige next to it. Two bolder colors together can even make a very simple outfit suddenly look interesting. The Jhené cardigan in Mars Red by The New Chapter already demonstrates this, combining red and pink in a single piece. With the Wolf Sweatpants Checker, orange and purple meet. So maybe just stop worrying so much about whether two colors officially go together.

It doesn't have to be a rainbow
More color does not mean five prints and seven colors in one outfit. You can just as easily start with a pair of pink socks, a colorful cardigan, or that one pair of pants that catches your eye every time. That is exactly what we like about it: a special piece can suddenly make things that have been in the closet for a long time look completely different again. Even that beige sweater suddenly feels a little less beige.
wear yourself happy.
